Belyashi with Kefir Dough
Fluffy and soft belyashi made with tender kefir dough and juicy meat filling — an ideal option for a hearty snack or homemade lunch.
Cooking time: 1 hour
Servings: 8–10
Ingredients:
For the dough:
• Kefir — 1 cup
• Egg — 1 pc
• Flour — 3 cups
• Baking soda — ½ tsp
• Salt — ½ tsp
• Sugar — 1 tsp
• Vegetable oil — 2 tbsp
For the filling:
• Ground meat (beef/pork) — 400 g
• Onion — 1 pc
• Salt, pepper — to taste
• Water — 3 tbsp (for juiciness)
- In a bowl, mix kefir, egg, salt, sugar, and soda. Add the oil, then gradually add flour and knead a soft dough.
- For the filling, mix ground meat with finely chopped onion, add water, salt, and pepper.
- Divide the dough into pieces and roll into small flat rounds. Place the filling in the center, pinch the edges, leaving an opening in the middle.
- Fry the belyashi in hot oil on both sides until golden brown.
- Optionally, cover and cook over low heat for another 5–7 minutes. Serve hot — with tea or broth.
